HÀ NỘI — Ambassador Đặng Hoàng Giang, Everlasting Consultant of Việt Nam to the UN, and his counterparts of South Africa, Sweden, and New Zealand co-chaired a session on a UN Normal Meeting (UNGA) draft decision on epidemic preparedness and response.
Giang mentioned the COVID-19 pandemic had revealed the worldwide healthcare system’s shortcomings in epidemic preparedness and response, left a heavy socio-economic impression, slowed down or reversed implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Growth, and affected the well being of many individuals, particularly weak teams.
As chair of the drafting of UNGA Decision 75/27, dated on the Worldwide Day of Epidemic Preparedness (December 27), Việt Nam has been working actively with different nations to advertise talks on measures for successfully enhancing the worldwide healthcare system and to extend the sharing of classes from the pandemic and good practices, thereby serving to enhance consciousness and motion plan for future epidemics, in response to the diplomat.
On the session, many nations shared the necessity to increase consciousness and motion to remain prepared to deal with epidemics across the globe. Additionally they affirmed continued participation in and contribution to this course of.
The core group organising the UNGA high-level session on epidemic preparedness and response contains Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, Costa Rica, Ghana, Jamaica, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Africa, Sweden, and Việt Nam.
It was arrange as advisable by the Impartial Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response, and established by the WHO Director-Normal, to overview classes in the COVID-19 response to higher put together for future pandemics. — VNS
