The Drug Administration of Vietnam on Thursday accredited the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine for youngsters aged 6-11.
A consultant from the administration stated the Moderna vaccine has been accredited for youngster vaccination by EU nations, Australia and Canada. After evaluating scientific paperwork, the Advisory Council for the Registration of Circulation of Medicine and Medicinal Components has accredited the Moderna vaccine for youngsters aged 6-11 in Vietnam.
Every dose for youngsters will include 50 micrograms of the vaccine, or half the doses for adults. A normal course would require two pictures.
Beforehand, the Ministry of Well being sought approval from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to obtain 13.7 million Covid-19 vaccine doses for youngsters, together with 9 million Moderna doses, from Australia. Vaccination might begin from the primary week of April.
Earlier, solely the Pfizer vaccine has been accredited to be given to youngsters in Vietnam. The Moderna vaccine was accredited for emergency use for adults in June 2021.
